Introduction
Here are my 5 Tips on how to increase traffic to your site and gain a higher Google Ranking, no experts required.
Create traffic around your site
Now is the time to create social media accounts, sign up to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, TickTok (yes! do it) and Youtube. Social proof is extremely powerful and Google see’s social media platforms as a way to voice your products and services.
By combining all types of social media posts through different types of mediums (photo, video and text) you are telling Google that your website is making some serious connections in the social world. Plus it is a way to tell your story, sell your product and most importantly bring new and organic traffic to your website.
By placing links to your site on each Social Media platform you are essentially creating roads and paths to your shop front. Do you find yourself browsing a social media page before making a decision to buy or experience a service. The reason why is because this has become the norm. Leading to my next point, content…
Content Creation
So you have created social media accounts, that is the easy part. The next is to create content to drive traffic, gain followers and show Google that your site is valuable.
Each social platform excels at different types of mediums (photo, video and text). The algorithms favour particular content. A golden rule is to “GIVE GIVE GIVE” don’t “TAKE”. This means the more free information and advice you give away the better your chances are of scoring top points with algorithms. Social platforms love tips and tricks and providing VALUE.
Tell your audience a secret hack, don’t sell but provide information around the topic. For example:
say I sell candles as a businesses, I will create content around what makes candles smell good, how to make your own candles (to see you as an expert). What makes a good candle or what makes a bad candle etc.
Ensure your content is unique, Google likes “trending” so read up on what’s đŸ”¥ and try to incorporate the latest trends.
Most importantly, don’t try and be a perfectionist. Create the content and get it out there. Your phone is sufficient to create all content!
Consistency
Being consistent is probably the hardest part, everyone has busy lives! if you can set aside some time here and there than that’s ok!
Initially with any new social media account you really have to get the engine going and post consistently. Three times a day would be awesome that way you cover your audiences patterns.
Morning post – this is to capture those morning peeps. A great opportunity for you to drive early morning traffic to your site.
The afternoon post – on your lunch break? likely others are on lunch too. Prime time to create some content for that afternoon traffic flow.
Finally at night – at the end of everyone’s day you can capture an audience while she or he is on the couch scrolling through Insta.
It may sound a bit intense to post three times a day, but in the early stages of social media accounts, telling the algorithm that your account is producing plenty of content boosts your ranking and you may find yourself on more recommended lists.
Get Comfortable
It may seem super awkward to begin with. I am not talking about your first date, I mean speaking in front of a camera (selfie mode). It takes time but the more you speak to your audience and the more you “GIVE GIVE GIVE” the better your content will be and the delivery of content would be so much more powerful with a name and face.
The most iconic companies use people to promote their brands. If you think about Red Bull for example, they don’t tell you that it works, rather athlete’s represent the brand. By talking to your audience on a consistent basis you will gain more loyal customers that represent your brand. People remember people.
Practice makes perfect, if you are consistent (three times a day) than your confidence to speak will most definitely shine through. The goal is to get others sharing your video or content, that is the real way to “build links”, I like to call it “building social links”.
Ask for Reviews
Consumers care a lot about what others think of a product or service. The easiest research for any consumer is to look at reviews.
Google reviews is extremely important for ranking, Google dedicates the top section of the search results to reviews and google maps!
If you have not done so already put your business on Google Maps, this is an easy way to appear on Google and have social proof with Google reviews. Ask your customers to write a review. One of the biggest objections with reviews is businesses fear of negativity. If you respond quickly and politely with a point of contact it shows that you care.
Positive reviews always drown out the negative reviews. By having lots of social proof Google is likely to rank you over the competition.
Now it’s time to get posting and remember “GIVE GIVE GIVE”.
